Step 0
You must have your Animus. In the case of PLD, you must have both your Sword AND your Shield. (This will cost you 13,500 Myths for 9 books)

Step 1
Complete the quest “Celestial Radiance”. This is obtained from Jalzahn, coordinates <29,19> in North Shroud. To complete this quest, you will need 1500 Allagan Tomestones of Mythology to buy 3 Superior Enchanted Inks in Revenant’s Toll.

Step 2
Complete the quest “Star Light, Star Bright”. This quest is obtained directly after you complete Celestial Radiance. You will then obtain your Sphere Scroll.

Step 3
Do any of the following:
- Collect 800 Myths. Exchange these with Rowena for a Mysterious Map.
- Once per Day, do your Expert Roulette while you have the quest “Morbid Motivation”. This quest can be obtained daily near the Summoning Bell in Revenant's Toll. Once you finish the Roulette, talk to the NPC who gave you the quest and you will receive a Mysterious Map.
- Grind FATEs. The FATE drops are really rough; however, they drop Alexandrite itself instead of the maps.
Mysterious Map Tip - Bring a friend. The Maps are slightly harder than your normal Boarskin maps, but easier than Peisteskin maps. The reason to bring an extra person is so that if something goes wrong, you'll still be OK.
ALEXANDRITE MELDING:
When melding Materia to your Sphere Scroll with Alexandrite, you start with Rank I Materia, then eventually work your way up to Rank II, III, and IV. At first, each materia will have a 100% success rate; however, as you get farther into the tier, your success rate will decrease. (However, you do NOT lose the Alexandrite if you fail. You will never need more than 75 Alexandrite to finish your Novus. Therefore, your Novus will never take you longer than 71 days if you are never making a Single Mythology Tome outside of the ones you get from the Daily Roulette. (71 Expert Roulettes will reward you with 3,550 Myth Tomes, enough to cover the last 4 Alexandrite)
FINAL RESULT:
The stats you melded into your Sphere Scroll will be put on your weapon, which will turn from Animus to Novus. You'll get a new glow and your weapon will go from i100 to i110 with the stats you put on your Sphere Scroll.
